For epic sagas...this one has definitively taken the cake.  Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series is on the cusp of actually being finished!

From a fabulous start all the way back in 1990 it raced through about six books then fell to the point where it became mired in details ad-nauseum at book 8/9/10 somewhere around 2005...It was still one of those ( Read more... )
